Around The Grange
Apr News from N. Stonington Community Grange No. 138

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  APRIL 8, 2025 --

April 11: World War I

April 25: Community Citizen and

honoring longtime members

Our hall and grounds are often used for fundraisers and celebrations by local non-profit organizations. The Baptist school held a spaghetti dinner in February, the Lions will hold a pancake breakfast in May, the town-wide yard sale will be here next September, and, of course, the annual North Stonington Agricultural Fair (again headed by our own Mile Riley, Sr.) will take place July 10-13 with the New London County 4H Expo following on Aug. 8-10; and if you are not busy on June 27, 2026 be sure to stop by and enjoy the exciting events sponsored by the town historical society.

Our first meeting in February had to be canceled due to illness of key officers. Luckily all was well by the 28th. We were happy to welcome Dick and Camilla Tarryk, new members who now belong to our Grange as Preston City #110 has merged with us. Hopefully this means we can look forward to some wonderful accordion music at future programs.

The evening’s program featured the Spanish American War and President Teddy Roosevelt (in the form of Jeff Barnes) and Clara Barton (in the form of Cheree Miner) were in attendance. Sue’s programs are always lots of fun. Wish more friends would join us. And if those daffies that are just peeking their heads above ground will keep on growing, next time we will tell you all about merry March.
