| AUGUST 5 2024 -- Wallingford Grange is gearing up for our upcoming annual Grange Fair! We will be having it at the Grange hall on Saturday, September 14, between 12pm-5pm. We will be having many activities that will occur including a “Backyard Shenanigans” kid’s zone, Chicken coop bingo (at 2pm and 4pm during the fair), an awareness booth about abused donkeys, a touch the tractor event, furbearer display/match the animal, pet a donkey, a match the veggie activity, and some live music. We will also have several demos focused on sewing, crocheting, and operating a ham radio. There will also be several craft vendors and non-profits present. In addition, we will be selling hot sandwiches at the event like we did last year.
One can also exhibit in several categories including vegetables, baking, needlework, canning, floral arranging, and photography to name a few. Entries to exhibit different items are due on Friday, September 6th. More information about specific exhibit categories can be found through our exhibitor fair book on the Wallingford Grange’s website.
This past June, Wallingford Grange hosted the Golden Fox Theatre Company who did a wonderful, hilarious show at our stage called “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” by Don Zolidis! It was a great success and amazing show, and we look forward to their next production at the Grange Hall in December!
We also had a beautiful day for the Dutch oven demonstration led by Mike Kennedy and Jeanne Lewis where we had dessert for lunch, and learned how to properly care for cast iron, how to regulate temperature, and choose the appropriate size Dutch oven for the crowd being fed. A big thank you goes out to Mike Kennedy and Jeanne Lewis, for hosting this!
Finally, we hosted a butter making workshop for kids on July 13th. Several kids came and were able to learn more about where butter comes from, and how to make delicious, fresh butter.
