When I tell others of all that happens at my Grange, they ask “what is the Grange?” I explain about its history in agriculture, consumer issues, community service and opportunities for leadership and personal growth.
I appreciate how both men and women are welcome as members, the formal ritual and agenda for meetings, and the interesting programs offered. Grangers also enjoy fun, food and fellowship at meetings and other gatherings. We operate at the local, regional, state and national levels, and members are encouraged to become officers.
Granges are also famous for hosting Agricultural Fairs and other events that allow for contest entries of many varieties. Individual Granges are encouraged to develop their own focus to match with local needs and issues. From “good old-fashioned fun” to writing a resolution to become a State law, the Grange has something for everyone. I always end with “come and visit at a meeting!”

Above is the Third Place Winner in the 2020 Essay Contest. It is never too early to write your entry in our 2021 contest. It just takes 150 words or less. The topic is “A Grange Memory.”
I have heard some good reports on zoom meetings and the programs that the Lecturers have provided. It does all good to meet with our members at once a month. I have also heard of Granges that are continuing their Community Service Projects with an emphasis on the needs created by COVID-19. Let’s keep the Grange in the forefront for all to see.
