From The Chaplain's Desk
January 2009 Chaplain's Corner

By Amy Whitcomb, State Chaplain

  JANUARY 2009 --

As we begin the new year, let us focus on renewing our faith.  After the light has come, after the joy of Christmas has gone, rest in its afterglow.  Let the glow stay with you as your resume your routine living.  Let it lighten your daily work.  The light of Christ is within you.  Let it shine in you the rest of the year and beyond.

Once a year we are blessed with the opportunity as a collective whole to become one with a loving presence.  It is the presence of the Holy One waiting to be born in all of us, the Holy One waiting for the first gleam of the Christ star to appear in the heavens.  Watch and wait.  A small light appears and grows stronger and brighter.  Let it grow and fill your heart.  Breath in that holy light.  Breathe in that love.  Breathe in that joy.  Take your light and brighten the lives of others with love, your concern and your gift.  Let your Christ light shine.  That is your true purpose this coming year.  The renewal of your faith is one of the most important parts of your life this new year.
