National Master visits Connecticut in preparation for Convention

By Todd Gelineau, Hosting Comm. Publicity Chmn.

APRIL 2008 -- National Master Ed Luttrell and National Convention Coordinator Margaret Maxwell visited Connecticut in early March to begin finalizing arrangements for the upcoming convention in Connecticut.  Their day began with a tour of the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, where they toured the hotel and began planning where the various events and activities of the convention will be held.

Later that day the Hosting Committee met with Ed and Margaret to discuss the needs of both National Grange and the Northeast Region.  The meeting was important to open more lines of communication between the two.  This is the second convention to be hosted by a region and it is important to involve all seven states in the region in our planning.

It is hoped that members are working extra hard to get new members initiated as well as encouraging current members to advance through the degrees to hopefully culminate their journey with the beautiful Seventh Degree to be conferred in Connecticut this November.

Fundraising for National Convention will not end when the convention closes in November!  The Northeast Region will host the National Convention on a rotating basis and all states in the region are expected to contribute monetarily to the cost each time.  To make this financial obligation easier to meet, the Hosting Committee plans to hold annual fundraisers that will enable Connecticut to put aside funds for upcoming sessions to be held in the region.

Our next fundraiser will be the Roast Beef Dinner to be held on Sunday, May 18 from 12:30 to 2:30 P.M. at Cheshire Grange Hall.  Tickets are available in each of the Pomonas, from members of the Hosting Committee or at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.  We hope to see you there!
