Deputy Corner: Spring is coming!

A special thank you to all of the Grange members who filled Norwich and Cheshire Grange Halls for the February Community Grange Schools of Instruction.  Nearly 150 members combined were in attendance.  We remind everyone to let us know if there are any questions during the year.  We are always available as a resource to all Granges.  Special thanks also go to the members of Norwich and Cheshire Granges for opening and warming their halls for these meetings.

As we move into inspection season, we would like to remind Granges of what is needed on the night of inspection:

1) All financial records (Secretary & Treasurer)- including checkbooks, passbooks, ledgers, statements, orders on Treasurer, Treasurer’s receipts, etc.

2) Minutes from the preceding 12 months of meetings.

3) Dues/Membership records

4) Current Executive Committee Report*

5) Steward’s Inventory Report*

The two items in asterisks (Exec. Comm. Report & Steward’s Inventory) are to be filed in advance of the Inspection with the General Deputy with copies made available for the Deputy to review on the night of inspection.  The Executive Committee report aides the Deputy in reviewing the financial records of the Grange during the inspection.

As of the date of printing, no By-Laws have been received by the State Secretary while a few have been sent to me.  PLEASE send copies of your most recent by-laws to the State Secretary as soon as possible (not to me).  Those copies that I have received will be forwarded to her.

Executive Committee reports are trickling in VERY slowly… please send them in as soon as possible (we understand that there are a few Granges whose books closed on Dec. 31 and have until April 1).
