| OCTOBER 3, 2011 -- On Tuesday, October 4, 2011, more than 125 Americans from rural communities across the country will gather in Washington, D.C. for an 11:00 AM press conference on Capitol Hill to deliver a message to federal lawmakers on the need for increased access to high-speed broadband in small towns and remote areas of the country as part of a "Broadband WORKS for Rural America" Advocacy Day.
This event is a collaboration of members of the U.S. Cattlemen's Association, National Grange, Women Involved In Farm Economics (WIFE), local chambers of commerce, farmers, ranchers, small business owners, teachers, and others from across the country, with support from the Internet Innovation Alliance. Throughout the day, participants will meet with members of Congress to tell their stories about how access to high-speed broadband will improve their lives, support economic development and create jobs locally.
