From The Lecturer's Desk
Have you prepared your Complete Program yet?

By Marge Bernhardt, State Lecturer

  MARCH 2, 2011 --

Have you prepared your Complete Program yet?  All of us Lecturers do this every time we put on a program.  The subject of this years’ program should be “When He Was President”.  This can be done on the events occurring during the term of any President of the United States except George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.  First you should present the program at your own Grange and then take it to any other Grange in the State.  It’s your choice where you go.  If you don’t know where to take it, I will gladly find a Grange for you that would really enjoy your program.  As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t mind having you come to my Grange.  I could use a night off.

The full program must be submitted to be considered.  All materials used must be included.  The length should be between 30 and 45 minutes.  The deadline for entries is October 1st and I must insist they be in on time.  It is harder and harder for me to find judges.  The competition has been so good lately that the same judges don’t usually want to come back a second year.

If you can’t think of how to go about doing this project, I am planning to put some of last years’ entries on the State Grange Website.  Hopefully they will be there by the time you read this.  Why not take a look.

I’ve heard comments that this was a hard topic this year.  Remember it can be on most anything that has happened in the course of our nations’ history.  Enter a date into your computer and see what you get.

The weather has been really messing up our schedule this year.  I haven’t gotten out anywhere near as often as I would like and believe it or not, I remember attending some Granges only to find out when the report comes in that I just wasn’t there.  Guess I’m imagining things.  The point here is to urge you to get your reports in on time and make sure they are complete.  I appreciate all your help.  Keep up the good work.
