| DECEMBER 31, 2010 -- Members of North Orange Grange #86, Orange, MA, received fourth place recognition in the 2010 National Grange Community Service Awards Program for their community efforts from the National Grange at its 144th Annual Session in November in Charlotte, NC. The Master of North Orange is Niles Larson.
The 28 members of Orange Grange #86 contributed 2,024 hours toward their community service projects, plus 648 hours were contributed by non-Grange members. In addition, the North Orange Grange contributed to Grange and community appeals.
North Orange Grange supports numerous projects throughout the year, including the Community Church of North Orange and Tully, Medicine Mammals Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Starry, Starry Night, Orange Santa Fund, and the New England Kurn Hattin Homes project. As they see the need arise, the members of the North Orange Grange take on new projects to help better their community.
Established in 1867, the National Grange is the oldest agricultural and rural community service organization and meets annually to confer the Seventh Degree (the highest Degree of the Order), to develop its legislative policy for the coming year, and to recognize the talents of its members. There are over 200,000 members in 2,700 communities in 36 states throughout the United States. |
