Litchfield Grange mourns loss of Evelyn Goodwin

Evelyn N. Goodwin, 87, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Goodwin.

Evelyn was born in Torrington on Aug. 17, 1921, daughter of the late Peter F. and Gladys (Perkins) Naser.

A lifelong Litchfield resident, Mrs. Goodwin had worked in the Litchfield Town Clerk's Office since 1943 and had served as the Litchfield Town Clerk from 1973 until she retired in 2008. A founding member of the East Litchfield Fire Department Ladies Aux., Evelyn had been the treasurer since its inception until two years ago. She enjoyed many summers on Tyler Lake in Goshen with her extended family and friends and she was a member and an avid square dancer for many years at the Litchfield Grange.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Robert E. Goodwin Jr. and his wife Patricia of Litchfield; two sisters, Phyllis Bunnell and Florence Pont; two grandsons, Timothy Goodwin and his wife, Jennifer, and Christopher Goodwin and his wife, Bethany; two granddaughters, Suzanne Beach and her husband, Jason, and Barbara Beebe and her husband, Scott; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Naser, and a sister, Jennie Jarmosik.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at the First Congregational Church of Litchfield. Friends and family may call on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield.
