Grangers remember Art Lorch

Arthur Frederick Lorch, 86, of Hickory Lane died March 20, 2007, at the Sharon Health Care Center. He was the husband of Ellen (Berner) Lorch.

Mr. Lorch was born in Cornwall Bridge on July 16, 1920, the son of the late Anna and Frederick Lorch.

He was a dairy farmer for nearly his whole life and worked the family farm in Cornwall Bridge from an early age.

He was an active lifelong member of the Taghhannuck Grange, where he held a number of offices.  He was also very active in the Connecticut Agricultural Fair.

He was also active in Blazing Star and Montgomery Lodges AF&AM and was a dedicated parishioner of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mr. Lorch will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his contagious smile and his constant willingness to lend a helping hand.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Brian, David and John.

Arrangements are under the care of the Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon. Funeral services were conducted at the United Church of Christ on March 23. Burial was at the Calhoun Cemetery in Cornwall Bridge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Omi Hepprich Scholarship Fund at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, or the Cornwall volunteer emergency medical services.
