| MARCH 3, 2025 -- As I write this article, Mr. Trump has been President for four weeks. Elon Musk’s DOGE department is reviewing all Federal Agencies and an estimated 5,000 Federal employees may be let go.
Impacted agencies include SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, Medicare, conservation projects, grants, and more.
Cuts at US AID are concerning. This program has been around since Harry Truman, providing aid all over the world.
Conservation grants approved for farmers were canceled. Farmers who were approved and had started fencing, water lines, and pasture improvements were told that no funds were coming. Many families will lose their farms if these grants (approved by Congress) are not released. Rural hospitals are at risk of losing funds to operate, forcing residents to travel farther for health care.
YouTube and TikTok are platforms that provide information and misinformation to confuse the masses. Don’t fall for the lies being pushed to all of us regardless of political affiliation, gender, race, etc. We need to end the divide and work together.
I have watched a YouTube channel, “The Back Forty” by Will Westmoreland. He is well informed about issues related to rural America. In one broadcast he talked about the Grange fighting for grain farmers in the 1900s due to tariffs causing lower grain prices. The fight was won but the end results took us into the Great Depression.

Egg prices continue to rise, so as Easter approaches, there is a substitute “Dye Potatoes.”
