At our October meeting many of the members were in costume and we had a “mystery” monster attend. He/she sat in an EC seat during our refreshment/social hour before our meeting and no one could guess who it was. When the meeting was called to order the monster sat in the Steward’s station. Thank you Mike Taylor for a hilarious and frightful beginning to our night. At our meeting we discussed the resolutions coming up at State Session at the end of October so our delegates would know how to vote. We had a senior from HVRHS attend our meeting to see if she would like to join. She took part in the discussion for the resolution “Connecticut Student Assistance” and both she and her mom took applications home to fill out.

We will miss our A.S. Bill Palmer who has already moved south for his new job with Amtrak and his wife Diane our Overseer and EC member who will join him soon. So, we did not have Installation of Officers as was planned but had Election of Officers for the three positions. Elected were: Chris Hopkins A.S., Ruth Schnell Overseer and Mike Taylor Executive Committee for 1 year.

Earlier in October we hosted a “pit stop” and refreshment for the Lime Rock Park Epic Bike Tour. There were over 100 riders and we received many good comments along with questions about the Grange.

On Saturday, Nov. 5 we are having a Square/Contra/Country Dance at our Hall at 7 Dunbar Road, Sharon 06069 (hint, hint if you get this in time). It will be from 7pm- 9pm with music by “Jim Prentice, Ren Nickson, Jane Prentice and Friends”.
