| November 10, 2019 -- Our Grange successfully served breakfast and lunch again this year to hungry hordes at the annual Celebrate Ag at the Woodstock Fairgrounds. A huge sigh of relief from the hardworking crew when the last person served was full, we cleaned up and traveled the 25 miles back to our Grange to unload began.
Many thanks again to Jodi Ann Cameron and crew for their dedication to the Ekonk booth at the Brooklyn Fair which adds money to our coffers as well as our presence at a major CT Fair. Jaimie Cameron also set up a second prize exhibit for our Grange in the Better Living Building.
We held our annul Meet the Candidates Night as well as sending two resolutions to State Grange for their action.
Seventeen Juniors carved pumpkins at one meeting and visited an apple farm in RI, bringing bags of apples back for each family. They all extend best wishes to President, Brianna Gervais, in her experiences at National Grange as she vies for National Junior Grange Ambassador! Both Junior and Subordinate Granges donated to help Brianna and her mother, Junior Leader, Rebecca Gervais, make the trip to Minnesota with National Grange not able to provide funding. The Connecticut State Grange has paid for Rebecca and Brianna’s airfare to National.
Our booth at Sterling Family Day proved awesome with the Ekonk Community Grange cloth bags designed by our Chaplain, Andrea Truppa-Gagas that were gifted to folks attending, as well as bushels of apples we gave away individually.
We donated to J. Allen and Shelley Cameron to help with their expenses representing National Grange and Connecticut at the annual FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN. They will man the Grange booth throughout the convention.
Our Grange donated $500 to the all-volunteer Celebrate Ag Committee, of which Ekonk’s Link Cooper is a member.
Brenda Craig is certainly learning fast what it means to be President of a busy Grange.
We enjoyed an outstanding program by Megan McGory Gleason on the MANY cemeteries in Sterling, many of which many of our members never knew existed.
Special hello to Russell Gray as he recuperates from his last hospital stay and surgery. His granddaughter, Lillian Sharpe, continues back and forth to Boston all too often in her continuing fight with leukemia.
