Higganum Grange is still alive and kicking. We’ve just been quiet for awhile. A review of the highlights of our activities for 2018 found us still actively involved in supporting community activities and Grange programs.
As representatives of Higganum Grange, members have devoted much time in working with the Haddam Land Trust in planning and preparing new walking trails in town. Working with the SunDial Gardens found us pulling weeds and preparing the land for gardening. On average, our members devoted about 65 community service hours a month to community projects/programs. While providing financial contributions to a variety of community programs, we take pride in providing financial support for two town youths to attend the Grange’s Camp Berger, as we have for many years.
We’ve maintained our hall and building insuring its continued use as a successful food market and location for community and Grange meetings. To that end, we’ve installed a new laminate floor in the second floor meeting hall and kitchen.
Members have attended many state Grange meetings and functions. A continued outreach membership effort has proven modestly successful with the addition of three new members. And lastly, we continued to strive to maintain a sound fiscal management base to insure our future We plan to be around for a long time. We are putting the finishing touches on program plans for 2019.
