November 2018 News from Taghhannuck Grange No. 100

By Barbara Prindle

  November 7, 2018 --

Taghhannuck Grange is now meeting only once a month for business meetings. Special meetings are scheduled as needed. Our Nov. 8 meeting has the Graces presenting the program and the CWA in charge of refreshments. This will be the first full meeting with our four new officers officiating.

We are giving out dictionaries this month to the third grades in the grammar schools in the towns of Kent (22), Warren (10), Cornwall (11), and Sharon (9). This is our 15th year doing the Dictionary Project. It is a joy to see the students get so excited when they put their names in the dictionary and are told they can take them home.

The Sharon Volunteer Fire Department celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Ellsworth Station, which is attached to our Grange Hall, with a dedication ceremony on Oct. 13th. The building of the firehouse was initiated by our Grange members who helped raise money and supplied the labor. There were many smiles in reminiscence.
