It was a rainy morning on Sunday April 29^th .  But soon, the rain gave way to sun, just in time for everyone to arrive.  It was a perfect day to celebrate the 125^th anniversary of the Greenfield Hill Grange.

Grangers, friends, and dignitaries came from all over the state to join the celebration.

Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau presented the Grange with a proclamation stating “Although the family farm is no longer a part of a Fairfield resident’s life, there are still many community members who adhere to the core values and ideals the Grange stands for.  Grange members love their hometown and deep roots.  They enjoy the company of their neighbors, and seek to create an environment for the families and friends.”

The Fairfield delegation of the Connecticut General assembly presented an official citation expressing “Congratulations on a job well done” and wishes for “125 more years of success in supporting the rural and agricultural history of our community.

Connecticut State Grange Master Noel Miller reflected on the question “At times we wondered if our founding fathers ever thought we would last this long.  And I think they would be shocked and awed that we are still here and as strong as we are here today.”

The Queen Anne style building was built in 1897 by Frank Perry.  Additions were built in the 1930’s.   The Greenfield Hill Grange was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
