Around The Grange
December News from Oxford Grange No. 194

By Robert Buck

  December 12, 2017 --

Dec. 1: Get into the Spirit of the season, 7:30 PM

Dec. 15: Christmas Potluck, Holiday grab-bag exchange ($5.00), 7:00 PM

Dec. 29: G.O.M.A.D. - Music and Dance party, 7:00 PM

The handicapped ramp is well under way here in early November, and hopefully will be completed by Selectman Jeff Haney and his helpers by the time you are reading this. New member Rich Wilber has lent a helping hand to the work-Thanks, Rich. We look forward to the increased access this will give to our Grange Hall.

In November, we had a nice Neighbor’s Night on the 3rd, and were entertained by the music of members Dan Golias on guitar, Raye Hodgson on autoharp, and Glenn Belinsky on saxophone, though not all playing at the same time. Dan and Raye played folk tunes, while Dan and Glenn played some jazz improvisations.

Oxford Grange was honored to be a Silver Honor Grange at State Session in October, Cheshire Grange being the only other and they were awarded the Gold level.

G.O.M.A.D. continues to be a fun event with the music and dance party the last Friday of every month. Attendance is reliably 40-50 and everyone seems to enjoy themselves. Come on out and discover what you bare missing.

Oxford will be part of the new Pomona B. Master Maggie and husband Rob attended the organizational meeting in Cheshire on October 29th. A By-laws committee was established and much covered with plans to announce the next meeting in the New Year. Attendance at this gathering was good, and I look forward to everyone working together with old friends to establish a strong new Pomona Grange.
