Since the beginning of July, new member Kim Dulka has organized and held a Pop-Up Market on Grange property each Saturday. A variety of vendors featuring farm produce and other wares has attended the event. The Grange has secured a peddler’s permit from town to be in compliance for this type of event.
The weekly Open Mic continues due to the efforts of Kim, husband Mike Matthews, and Dave Foster. The hot weather of late July and early August forced this event to go on sabbatical for a few weeks until the weather cools off as the Hall was too hot and uncomfortable. It should pick up again in later August and definitely by September. This continues to be popular with the regular performers and attendees.
Member Raye Hodgson has started work on a project to make the Grange lawn into a garden representative of our three patron graces: Ceres. Pomona, and Flora. At the meeting August 5th, she gave a PowerPoint presentation outlining her vision to beautify the grounds. We expect the work to take some time to complete, but look forward to the results.
We are still in planning for the eventual handicapped ramp for the Grange Hall. We await a materials list from Selectman Jeff Haney who volunteered to build the ramp with donated labor. Once we have this, we can price out what our cost will be, then plan to raise this money in whatever way is most feasible. There may be some donations coming in to defray the total costs of the project.
These are exciting times for the Grange in Oxford. At our August 5th meeting, we approved ballots for seven new members. The momentum is building! |
