Around The Grange
January 2014 News from Norfield Grange

By Ruth L. Hickcox

  JANUARY 4, 2014 --

Who wouldn’t want to go to a “Farm to Fork” event?  We counted nearly 90 people who definitely did attend ours on Nov. 9, and it was an outstanding success.  A fundraiser for the Grange Scholarship Funds and the Farmers’ Market, it featured food, wine, cider tasting, art, music and more.  A big thank you to all the event planners, chefs, farmers, caterers, helpers, artists, crafters, musicians, and those who helped, attended, donated food, time talent and treasure.  It will definitely happen again!

The Winter Farmers’ Market began on Nov. 23, and will continue until May 3.  And we now have Yoga classes at the Grange Hall, which began on Dec. 2 at 9:00 and 10:30 and will continue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Classes are being led by Maggie Converse who grew up in Weston and once took Yoga classes at the Grange herself!

And yet “Heavy indeed are the sorrows that so often descend upon us during this earthly pilgrimage.”  Sue Sulla died on Nov. 6.  A member of Cannon Grange, we also counted her as one of our own.  She was the last of an amazing generation of devoted Grangers who took their Degree work very seriously, and always “for the good of the Order.”  Goodbye, Sue. Thank you for your sense of humor and for being our Lecturer and for keeping us all on track.

Jan. 14:  Fair Kick-Off and Planning Meeting (Bring at least one can or non-perishable item for Weston Food Pantry)

Feb. 11:  Valentine’s Day Celebration, Sweets and Cheers!  Wear red or pink.

Mar. 11:  Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner, 6:30 P.M., $5 Donation
