| MARCH 23, 2012 -- Due to popular demand, the Winter Farmers Market at Norfield Grange will be extending the season through June 9. With lots of fresh local foods as well as beautiful items from Connecticut artisans, the Market has been a terrific success this season, both with customers and vendors.
In addition to extending the season, the Market is adding new vendors. The Winter Farmers Market at Norfield Grange is pleased to introduce Lenny’s Coal-Fired Pizza of Shelton, CT, a pizza truck that can make gourmet pizzas on-site in as little as 3 minutes in their 750°F ovens, with a variety of fresh ingredients and coal-fired ovens just like the pizzerias of old. The pizza truck will be at the Market every Saturday from 10am to 2pm starting this week, March 24 through June 9.
Owner Blerim Lena, with 12 years experience in the pizza business, says his goal is for “everyone to experience not just a great piece of pizza but a slice of heaven when they come to Lenny’s Coal-Fired Pizza.” While many pizzerias use conventional gas-fueled pizza ovens, Lenny’s wanted to be different from the competition and had two custom coal-fired brick ovens installed on the mobile food truck. The use of coal as fuel is very important. Lena says, “The high heat from the coal gives the pizza its unique char and smoky flavor, not present in your conventional pizzeria. Lenny’s Coal-Fired Pizza is proud to serve high-quality local ingredients.
At the Winter Farmers Market at Norfield Grange, in addition to fresh coal-fired pizza, families can purchase farm fresh fruits and vegetables, honey, maple syrup, goats milk cheese and yogurt, handmade soap and body products, natural beef and pork, wild-caught seafood, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods, and more.
