| JANUARY 14, 2012 -- Mary B. Jungling of Newtown, formerly of Weston, died on Dec. 29, 2011. Mrs. Jungling, 102, was the widow of Milton Jungling and the mother of Audrey S. Dance of Redding.
Ms. Jungling was born in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late James and Helen Brown Baird on Oct. 3, 1909. She came to the United States at the age of 13 with her family and settled in Kearny, N.J., then moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. She became a private secretary at an insurance company in New York and followed the company to Weston, where she lived for 60 years.
For more than 50 years, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Daughters of the Nile, and a member of the Norfield Grange in Weston. She was a member of Christ and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Westport.
Her family said Ms. Jungling loved to work, travel and paint. Most of all she was proud of her heritage and her family.
Besides her daughter, Audrey S. Dance of Redding, she is survived by 10 grandchildren, Malcolm Dance (and Roberta), Mary D. Burritt (and Wayne), Connie D. Borofsky (and Jay), all of Redding, Audrey D. Scott (and Brian) of Norwalk, Deborah S. Harris (and Jack) of Baton Rouge, La., Eugene Simmons (and Kate) of Woodbury, George E. Dance (and Nancy) of Port Orange, Fla., Tammy S. Arnold of Manassas, Va., John T. Dance (and Nancy) of Newtown, and Scott Simmons (and Jill) of Morris; 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her husband, Milton Jungling, her son Eugene Simmons, her brother, Robert Baird, her sister, Helen Pederson, and her grandson, Alexander S. Dance.
Memorials in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Christ Church Parish Episcopal, Black Rock Turnpike (Route 58), Redding. Burial will be private. |
