Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021 at 7:00 pm. until approximately 8:30 pm. the Hillstown Grange Garden Talk goes virtual once again with the aid of Zoom Meeting. To attend you will have to have downloaded the Zoom app. It is free. You are officially invited to attend as it is free and open to the public to discuss several gardening topics; Perlite vs Vermiculite, second in a series covering soil amendments/components/ingredients in seed germination and potting soil mixes. This one is again presented by Debbie Rodriquez who did a great presentation on Sphagnum Peat Moss vs Coco Coir as we try to decide the good, better, best ingredients in your mixes. It will be followed by a discussion of Nitrogen as the beginning of a series on plant nutrients/elements/minerals as to how, when and where they are used by a healthy plant in the developing of a fertilization plan, Earthworms especially the benefits of having them garden with you, Natural Farming as proposed by Masanobu Fukuoka in his book; One Straw Revolution and Korean Natural Farming with Dr. Han- Kyu Cho. You may also bring your questions, keeping in mind we basically discuss vegetable and herb gardening but are known to tuck in flowers and other plants that aid beneficial insects in the garden and around the homestead.
If you are new and/or interested, for further information and the code to get into the Zoom Meeting, you can contact Frank Forrest at hillstowngrange@aol.com or Dan Gallagher at daninct@yahoo.com after which you can be put on the Hillstown Grange Gardeners email list if you so wish. Links to interesting sites, free webinars and attachments are sent out periodically in newsletters/emails as reminders of upcoming Garden Talks and Grange Events. Everyone is invited to The Hillstown Grange Garden Talk, a meeting of gardeners helping gardeners become better gardeners and in the process becoming better gardeners themselves.
As always The Hillstown Grange is always looking for new members who wish to build a stronger, healthier community starting with their own backyards and expanding out into the broader community at large. The only requirement is to embrace The Hillstown Grange's spirit of all inclusive community outreach. Just contact Frank or Dan with any questions you may have and to start the process.
